Robot Trajectory Planning Internship

Your assignment

This internship focuses on a cognitive algorithm for complex path-planning in industrial

robotics defining the needs, goals and requirements plus advancing navigation

competence.

Recently, a new industrial application started from zero. Because of its complexity,

basic prototyping started and is advancing using an industrial robot with the basic

principles being covered. Nevertheless, some issues still remain within the cognitive

domain. Given the complex nature of the application, particular attention goes to the

path-planning optimization procedure.

The study starts with redefining application requirements, goals and constraints.

Followed by analysing different path-planning strategies most suitable to the

application. Last but not least, a functional algorithm must be implemented

accordingly.

This internship is intended as a graduation project for bachelor and master students.

Your time

Its duration depends on the weekly availability of the student (minimum 5-6 months fulltime equivalent).

Your profile

You have a real passion for robotics, creating intelligent software for solving optimization problems, starting from zero in a creative and inventive way.

Therefore, you are:

• a bachelor/master student in computer science, information technology, software engineering, systems & control, embedded systems, robotics, mechatronics or similar;
• a strong affinity with complex topics like guidance, optimization problems & cognitive adaptation.
• highly interested in robotic path-planning, or better, have some experience with it;
• comfortable with development environments and SCM tools like Linux, Git, GitHub;
• having programming skills (any or some Python, .Net, C++) and eager to learn more;
• effective communication in English or Dutch.

Bonus points if you are someone who:

• has practical experience with programming and handling Fanuc robots, notably the teach pendant;
